Maggie Orth makes interesting interactive textiles. She has some good sources for materials like steel thread and metallic fabrics. I'm mildly depressed as she seems to have successfully carried out many ideas I've had for a while. Somehow, they seem a little less exciting now that I know she did them two years ago.
